Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology

For families, the Norwegian Museum of Science & Technology (at Kjelsås, a bit outside center) is a fantastic, interactive museum – kids can play with hands-on experiments and see vintage cars, airplanes, and even a retro gaming arcade.

Norway’s national museum for technology, industry, science and medicine is one of Oslo’s best museums for families, curious adults and anyone who likes interactive exhibitions. It has more than 25 exhibitions and around 100 hands-on installations covering transport, energy, music machines, computers, medicine and industrial history.

It was named Museum of the Year in Norway in 2023, and remains especially popular for its broad mix of learning and play.

Address: Kjelsåsveien 143, 0491 Oslo.

Opening hours: Tue–Fri 09:00–16:00, Sat–Sun 10:00–17:00; closed Mondays.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology is an inclusive arena for dissemination, research and management of technology, medicine and science's opportunities and history. The cultural heritage is linked with the present and future. Playful learning and dialogue in the Science Center and Museum ensures insight and science interest. Our vision is to be the most engaging, knowledge -provoking and funniest museum.

Bridges between different professional traditions – The museum will convey the connection between technology, medicine and culture over time, in addition to providing insight into the basic principles of modern technological processes and products that surround us today. Our science center illustrates the basic principles of physical laws through the provision of playful learning via interactive installations. The museum's biggest challenge is to be a bridge-builder between fragmented expert knowledge on the one hand and the public in a broad sense on the other.
