The Armed Forces Museum
The main museum of the Norwegian Armed Forces has been located at Akershus Fortress since 1860. In the old arsenal building, you can learn more about the strategy, technology, and people who have shaped the Armed Forces throughout Norway’s history.
The Armed Forces Museum takes you on a journey through Norwegian defence history. The exhibitions emphasise the period from the 15th century to the present day, focusing on how military strategy, technology, and politics have shaped Norway’s history.
The museum presents material from all branches of the Armed Forces, offering a comprehensive picture of the development of Norway’s defence. The exhibitions invite reflection on historical defence issues and the role of the Armed Forces today, conveying the story honestly and without distortion.

Regular tours
We offer drop-in guided tours for our visitors Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00 and 14:00.
These tours are included in the admission ticket to the Armed Forces Museum
Private guided tours
Groups may book a private guided tour of the Armed Forces Museum.
Prices:
NOK 3,000 + admission per group for tours during the museum’s opening hours.
An additional 750 NOK is added for every extra hour if the guided tour is outside of the museum's regular opening hours.
NOK 1500 for veteran groups (no additional admission fee).

The museum is closed 1st January, 17th May, 24th-26th December and 31st December.
